History of Kid to Kid

Shauna and Brent Sloan started Basecamp Franchising in 1992. They got the idea after spending hours in various resale stores shopping for clothes for their own young kids. An avid bargain hunter, Shauna loved the idea of selling her kid’s outgrown clothing and purchasing new clothes in the resale space at slashed prices. Brent brought his experience as a real estate attorney to the table, combining his love of business, appreciation for high profit margins, and his quick recognition of the opportunity posed by the resale space in kids clothing. He saw the opportunity as being even better than the legal field, because unlike a case in which only one side can win, clothing resale offers a win-win opportunity for everyone.

The couple opened their first retail location in Utah and named it “Kidstuff.” The stunning success of their endeavor prompted the couple to begin franchising the store just one year later. Renaming the store “Kid to Kid” in 1996, the brand continued to grow, expanding to more and more locations and reaching a burgeoning number of loyal customers.

Even in the midst of down economy, Kid to Kid reached new heights with a workable idea that gave parents, customers, and business owners an exciting opportunity.

Now, Kid to Kid has grown to include more than 100 franchises throughout the United States. Best of all, the endeavor remains a family affair: Brent, Shauna, and their kids still play vital roles in the business.
